Countdown to Smart Horticulture Asia

We have started the countdown to Smart Horticulture Asia! Less than a week to go before the Smart Horticulture Asia event will take place again during the Asia Fruit Logistica 2018. As with the previous successful editions, the program will offer you numerous top-notch speakers from leading companies such as IBM, Rabobank, Panasonic, Microsoft and many others.

The first day will focus on Blockchain. Blockchain is seen as the future for chain (information) management in the fruit and vegetable sector. In this session we look at opportunities and challenges that blockchain offers horticulture, with Fredric Lam from IBM Food Trust and Dirk-Jan Kennes from Rabobank amongst others.

Wednesday 6 September will revolve around robotics in horticulture. More and more robots are being developed for use in the greenhouse, but are they ready to be used in 'the real world'? And are our crops ready for robots; that is, can robots help us with the way we work now or should we first develop new plant structures and breeding methods? With contributions from, among others, Ryo Toshima from Panasonic and professor Salah Sukkarieh from the Australian Center for Field Robotics.

Finally, we will concentrate on the digital chain on Friday 7 September. In this session, together with Jan Brouwer from Microsoft and Mitch Grosky from Smart Yields, we look at how technology brings new ways of working for growers and traders and how this can help our industry.
